April Tips -
1. Change the A/C filter.
2.
Fertilize your yard. (Don't forget the weed killer.)
3. Clean gutters
and downspouts.
4. Have your air
conditioner checked and perform any required maintenance.
5. Begin project
discussions with your contractor to ensure a spot in his/her schedule.
Consider this….
A large portion of spring
projects center on exterior repairs and paint. Today, most of
these repairs, as well as color selections, require you to contact
your homeowners association to get approval for any changes you may be
considering. Failure to get color approval can actually result
in repainting your home with an approved color. A lot of folks
can't afford this added expense, so do yourself a favor and make the
call.
Depending the scope of
work, someone on the board will need to see plans, sketches, or
drawings of some kind to give written approval for your
alteration. This approval is necessary for you or your
contractor to get a building permit. The last thing you want is
to have the work stopped in the middle of the project because you
don't think your association has any right to tell you what you can or
can't do to your home. If your project changes the exterior
appearance of your home in any way, please get the work approved
first. You, and your contractor, will appreciate the effort.
